Motorbikes and cars can typically park in rustic, unpaved dirt clearings or under the shade of trees near the village houses bordering the coast. From these informal parking spots, the shore is reached via a very short, flat walk across the sandy ground and grass with no steep cliffs or concrete steps to manage.
Bai bien om gets its name ("om," meaning to embrace or hug) from its uniquely shaped, deep semi-circular bay that is tightly hugged by two protective rocky headlands. This beach is famous for sitting back-to-back with another beach (Bai Rang), separated only by a narrow, coconut-palm-covered strip of land. It features a completely wild, uncommercialized stretch of fine white sand lined by extensive groves of wild coconut palms. Because it is highly enclosed, the translucent turquoise waters are notably calm, gentle, and shallow, making it an idyllic, hidden oasis for quiet wading, sunbathing, and experiencing a completely raw, serene coastal ecosystem far from tourist crowds.
