From the parking zone, visitors follow a very well-maintained, flat concrete pathway that winds through the park grounds toward the shore. To view the main marine formations safely, you cross a dedicated, sturdy wooden and metal pedestrian boardwalk with safety handrails built directly over the rocky shoreline, allowing you to walk right up to the formations without needing to climb steep cliffs or navigate raw stone steps.
Hang Rai is an extraordinary, otherworldly geological wonder defined by its massive, ancient fossilized coral reef platform that juts dramatically out into the ocean. Instead of a traditional sandy beach, the shoreline is a rugged landscape of stacked volcanic rock formations, natural caves (historically inhabited by sea otters, giving the site its name), and crystal-clear rock pools filled with bright turquoise seawater.
